Pursuant to the Notification of Scales for Remuneration of Brokers vide IRDA/CIR/019/2003 dated 30th May, 2003, the Authority has received communications seeking clarification as to whether insurance brokers will be allowed to service the non-tariff portfolio in respect of public sector entities.

It is hereby clarified that the brokerage/commission shall be payable to all the brokers who intend to service the non-tariff business of public sector entities and only the tariff portion of the business shall continue to remain out of the scope of the activities of an insurance broker.
