REVISED NOTICE

Sub: Licencing of Insurance Brokers, their training and Examination

A. Consequent upon the notification of IRDA (Insurance Brokers) Regulations, 2002, Authority has invited applications from all interested persons and the process of examination of those applications and the grant of licence is on. All the applicants are required to submit their response within 10 days from the date of receipt of letter containing queries raised by the IRDA. The applicant must comply with all the conditions of the regulations including the test of "fit and proper persons".

B. The institutions approved for the purpose of training of brokers are listed below. The training is to be provided on the basis of approved syllabus placed at Annexure-I.

Note:- The training is to be imparted at the Corporate Centres of the above institutions. These institutes are advised to furnish IRDA immediately the details of the faculty requisitioned by them for the purpose of training. These institutions are also advised to get in touch with the examining body for the purpose of co-ordinating : the dates of the examination, venue of the examination and any other information required by the examining body. These institutions must develop their training material for the trainees in addition to the training material being developed by the National Insurance Academy (NIA) and the Insurance Institute of India which would be priced publications of the respective institutions. Any suggestions with regard to the standards of training, conduct of the examination etc. may be referred to the IRDA and the Director, National Insurance Academy, Pune for further perusal and necessary action thereon.

C. The examining body for the purposes of holding an examination on the basis of approved syllabus placed at Annexure-I is the National Insurance Academy, Balewadi, Baner Road, NIA P.O., PUNE-411 045. (e-mail: niapune@vsnl.com/ kcmishra@niapune.com), Telephone No. 020-7292382-83, Fax: 020-7292396.

NIA has advised that first examination based on the approved syllabus would be held on 29th December, 2002 at NIA, Pune. The subsequent examination will be held atleast in each metro cities in addition to NIA Pune. The Director, NIA Pune would advise the training institutions for further details about the dates and venues of the subsequent examinations in this regard.

D. The prospective applicants seeking grant of licence for the insurance brokers and the brokers training institution are advised to see the web-site of NIA regularly and/or correspond with the Director, NIA Pune for the purposes of other details of the examination
