In continuation to the notice of 19th September, 2001 placed on our website on the subject of categorization of existing surveyors, the following information is placed on record for the use of Surveyors/Insurers/new applicants and public at large.
 

1.                 The effective date of application of financial limits of categorized surveyors and loss assessors is 1st January, 2002 and not 1st December, 2001 as was inadvertently mentioned in the earlier notice.

2.                 The effective date of enrollment of trainee surveyors and loss assessors as well as existing surveyors and loss assessors who wish to upgrade their categorization is 1st November, 2001.  The details of the enrollment form are already placed on the web-site.  Those surveyors and loss assessors who have received the letter dated 17th August, 2001 of IRDA stating that they are required to undergo training for the purpose of categorization may also enroll themselves for the necessary training as per that form.

3.                 The details of 2946 No. of finally categorized surveyors and loss assessors as on 1.11.2001 is placed below.   Since the process of categorization is still on, the details of the remaining categorized surveyors and loss assessors will be periodically placed on the web-site and will also be mailed to each of the general insurer as well as Institute of Insurance Surveyors and Loss Assessors.  We hope to clear the pending applications for categorization by 31st December, 2001 if all the details called for are received by us.  We are also trying our best to consider those applicants who have submitted their application with a proof that hey had earlier applied in time for the categorization and hope to clear their categorization by 31st December, 2001.  They are requested to bear with us if there is any delay in this regard as the work involved is enormous.  We have already indicated that the fresh applications received for categorization will be received after 31st March, 2002 as a last opportunity.

 4.                 The requests which we have received for up-gradation of the categories due to their furnishing the fresh data will not be considered in the current exercise as all such cases will be considered after all the existing surveyors are categorized.

 5.                 The categorized surveyors and loss assessors (Category “A” & “B”) are requested to start providing training on fundamentals of survey and loss assessment.  They are also requested to restructure their training schedule on the basis of the approved syllabus for the said purpose which will be placed on the web-site before 30th November, 2001 as by that time the meeting of the Surveyors and Loss Assessors’ Committee would have taken place for recommending the syllabus to the Authority.

6.                 Thos surveyors who have yet to send their options must do so immediately.

7.                 The representations received from the surveyors are being scrutinized and given due effect wherever necessary.  It would be difficult to reply to each representation individually.

8.                 We are again reminding and requesting the surveyors and loss assessors companies and firms to furnish their applications as indicated in our notice dated 19th September, 2001 to enable us to categorize them in respect of their Directors, and or Partners.

9.                 The identity card of all those surveyors who are categorized or are being categorized will be sent after the categorization process is complete.  Each surveyor is requested to ensure that his/her complete address stating: the house number, street/mohallah, district, tehsil/taluka, town/city/pin code is along with the photograph is made available to IRDA.
